4 & 5. Who would be the Audience for your media product and what would attract them to this product?
For my media product the audience would be people in their twenties and thirties, because people in these ages groups are attraced to films with action, violence, money and crime which our film has lots of each one. This is a film classified as a 15 but i believe that people a few years older than this age will be the ones watching this because of the clever story lines and twists in the plot which some of the youger audiences may not be able to keep up with this and the fast nature of the film, but i think that someone a little older will be able follow the story well. Many people dont just like the action, guns and violence side of films they like the clever storylines that go with them, i think this will atract an older audience because it is not just easy thrills, it will make you think as well as entertaining you.
I think that the typical gender that would go and see this film is male because many of the themes that are linked with this film are stereotypically male such as fighting, stealing and murder and many people who are male enjoy watching this type of film, this is why we produced our film in this genre so that we could relate to the type of people that would be seeing the film.
We have created chraraters that are stylish and people would want to be like them and/or could relate to them in some way so we get a likeablity factor in the characters. Another thing that people will like about our film is the way that the language of Chris and Matthew are quite childish and not the way that most other films in this genre are like, this gives us an edge making the characters relate to some audiences. Later on in the film we are going to make the comedy really come out in the two characters of Matthew and Chris which many people will like along with the main story.
I think that we have apealed to our target audience because we have followed all the guidelines for a heist film and added a few of our own touches giving us an edge on the competition of the other films that may be coming out at the time.

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our film is classed a 15 because of many things that are in our film such as; there is a lot of violence included within the story line including someone getting shot, gun shots in the bank, holding people hostage and other things which are in our synopsis. 15's are quite graphic but not too bad we have decided to make it a 15 because we wanted people below 18 to be able to see it and experience it, but we had to limit some of the things which we put in our film like the amount of violence/gore. many people may think that this is a good film to go see with their friends to have a good time and enjoy the clever storyline and action involved.
Miramax is the company which distributed reservoir dogs which was a very violent film and was an 18 our film will be similar to this film because of the narrative and amount of violence, gore and swearing but there will be a smaller amount of these things in the whole film but overall a very good film hopefully. Because our film is similar to reservoir dogs we believe that Miramax would distribute our film.

7. looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
My preliminary task taught me about using the camera and editing software giving me a crash course in making a film, our preliminary task may not have been the smoothest of films but it works and helped me understand many different filming techniques.
Some filming techniques i learnt about are; match on actions which is when a shot leads on to another shot while carrying the same action on, this is effective to use because it shows conuinty in a film so it runs smoothly and it means that viewrs are not bored with what they are watching because they are being shown different angles and shots but while being shown the same action.
Another technique i have learnt about is the 180 degree rule which makes sure that the film runs smoothly and does not look wrong, The 180 degree rule means that a camera is only allowed to film from one half of something, and not move suddenly over to the other side.
There are a lot of differences between my preliminary task and my final product for one there is a huge time difference which is significantly different between each my preliminary task is a lot shorter because we had a lot less time to make it and it wasnt meant to be longer than thirty secs, but our final text has to be at least two minutes. another difference between the two films is that the final task has a better storyline than the task because we had a limited amout of time to create it and didnt have long to make it, our film has a very in depth storyline, all the characters have deep back stories which make them seem real.
I have learnt a lot from making this film and i believe the skills i have shown while making the final text are very impressive considering i had only considered making a film at the start of the school year.

2. How does your media text represent different social groups?
Our film is able to represent different groups of people because the age of people in our film varies from the age of 21 too 32 so there is 11 years of difference between 2 of our characters. Chris Jennings and Matthew Benton are the more childish ones of the group who are showing off to each other throughout the film trying to out do each other with certain things, such as Chris showing Matthew his new gun to impress him. things like this show that they are quite stereotypical to their age group by trying to impress each other with many things.
Jacob green is the more serious out of the group even though he is the second oldest of the three, he seems to be more focused on the job at all times telling the other 2 what too do at times like he is always in command, he is the one that goes to meet Ronnie when they all meet and he is the one that drives them all around where there meant to be going, not even telling them where they are going before setting off.
We represent this age group as very submissive toward a leader, doing what they are told to do by a leader who acts older than he is (Jacob) many people are like this in real life so I believe that it is an accurate representation of some young people. Chris talks to Matthew like a school friend trying to impress him with his 'new piece' and talking like he is impressed and proud with himself, Matthew gives off signals that he is jealous of Chris but does not tell him but we can see that he is.
Jacob is represented as a mature confident man who only answers too the don, he has his own car, house and nice clothes which represent success to some people and he likes to show off what he has got to impress people that he works with/meets.
The don represents a very different group of people who want the work done then and now and doesn't have a problem with bossing people around and they way he talks suggests that he doesn't want to be messed around at all and if he does get messed around there will be trouble. Overall I think that we have represented these age groups well and i have explained our characters the right way.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of making this product?
At the start of this project I was not very skilled with a camera and a novice at editing software, I now believe that I am quite skilled in both the fields because of trial and error with filming the first two minutes of our film, and editing it. We had to over come obstacles as they came up in the filming, these hindered our work, things such as our actors pulling out at the last minute or saving the video files in the wrong place. Through having these errors and complications we learnt about the software first hand and while we were trying to edit our film.
While filming on the camcorder I learnt that it takes a lot longer than you expect to get a high quality angle which makes a film look good, I spent a while deciding what shots I was going to film in what settings to create the best effect. I also found it hard to get the camcorder to get into the right shot/place to make it look the best, it depended where we were because some of the places we filmed it was not possible to get the shots that we wanted. Another thing that i learnt from using the camera was that the more footage you have the better it is, we managed to get a few versions of each of our shots so we had a good amount of footage to play around with while editing.
While editing on Corel video editor I have learnt a few things, many shots do not work together because of the 180 degree rule and some of our shots needed to be re filmed so they worked out, and I found that some didn't look right while in editing. The editing is like the actual filming and it takes a lot longer that expected and I found my self spending a huge amount of time editing the film to make it exactly how I wanted it. Another thing I have learnt from Editing our film is that it is a lot easier when you know how to use the software and all the tricks and tips which i have learnt from using the software.
The music for our film was a struggle to find because we were very picky with what we wanted in our film we found it hard to settle on something me and my partner both liked, we learnt not to be so picky with what we had because we would never have gotten anything done. I also learnt with the sound that it is hard to make some sound line up and make everything sound correct in the whole two minutes, we managed to do it in the end.
I have learnt a lot about the way a film is made and how it is made because I have experienced it first hand and i now appreciate the process of it all and I believe that this whole experience has helped me know ow much work it takes to make a film.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge the conventions of real media products?
(How well have you kept too the conventions of the genre)
The genre of our film is a Heist film which has very particular rules and conventions, these include an archetypical type plot which is a plot consisting of three acts, which usually are the first act which is the preparations for the heist, then the second act the heist itself lastly the third act the unravelling of the plot. All three acts contain different things, i am focusing on just the first act because we filmed and edited the first part of the first act. I believe that we keep to this convention very well because in our plan of the film we explain whats going to happen in the three different stages of the film.
Another convention which is highlighted with a heist film is that there is an all star team of criminals which band together for a job, we have made this a reality with our film. The characters in our film are all famous heist criminals in the fiction world we have created, later on in the film all their special abilities will be revealed when they plan the heist which each of them get allocated special jobs to do to make the heist work. We have created character profiles for each of our characters, these explain their characters in detail.
The next convention that is in our film is based on one last big job for the characters they all want to give up the crime life before something bad happens, later on in the film all the characters mention this apart from the don who gets away but the two robbers who get caught help the police catch the Don so they get shorter sentences. I think that we did this convention well because the all the characters want to give up the crime life and it shows that crime does not pay to anyone, even the blog.
Overall i think that the conventions of our film show what a heist film is about and correctly portrays a everything that is in the genre.
